Siobhan Jones Designer Glass

inspired by colour, space, pattern and the qualities that light can play in bringing an object to life.

Following her graduation in 1996, Siobhan started her own workshop which has continued to grow in strength ever since
Now located on the fringe of Basingstoke the workshop has a showroom where you can view finished work and discuss commissions.
Siobhan's work can be found in established galleries thoughout the country and abroad.
Inspiration
Inspired by light and the part it can play in bringing life and dimension to an object Siobhan creates one off signed pieces of kiln formed glass. Siobhan hand cuts and arranges each individual colour. These cut pieces are then fused in the kiln with occasional copper laminations. Most pieces are then returned to the kiln to be slumped and take the form.
Shaping thin canes of glass, layering colour and creating voids are used in conjunction with the fusing and slumping process adding decoration and depth.
Quality
Siobhan works exclusively with a high quality transparent glass that is tested for colour compatibility, this enables her to place all colours next to each other without causing additional stress or weakness in the finished piece. The glass is also coloured all the way through so will not fade or wash off as with cheap imitations

The steel framework has been left in it's natural organic state, they will slowly discolour and become rusty over time. I can however apply a weatherproof coating in any colour of your choice to both the structure and the base to complement your outdoor environment.
The glass can be made in any colour and design. The framework and base can also be any combination of height, design and colour to balance with the proportions and scale of your outdoor space.
The garden pieces have all been left loose for exhibition and transportation purposes, for permanent display the bases can be dug into the ground, and a small amount of silicone applied between glass and steel to stop any movement.
