About Me - Roland Lawar
As an artist, my work embodies various technical and aesthetic forms covering a range of media and styles. My artistic practice revolves around my ability to use 'found objects', especially for my steel sculptures. I also model in clay mostly for my figurative pieces which are usually cast in either bronze, bronze resin or plaster. I sometimes work with other media such as plastic, would and concrete. I am very much aware of abstraction and the manipulation of space around my sculptures. This has drawn useful parallels with my childhood experiences. I like creating sculptures that are aesthetically balanced, and which people can interact with, enjoy and be inspired by.
My sculptures are suitable for both indoors and outdoors. I have exhibited in the UK, USA and Canada and my sculptures are in both public spaces and private homes.
I have lived and worked in the United States for some time and am now based in the UK.
