For Philip, nature, wildlife and art are everything. Creating garden sculpture isn’t a full time job, but it certainly is a full time passion. He began to create with metal, after he learnt his trade as a welder. After experimenting with several different projects, including bonsai trees and wild animals, he concentrated on making steel fantasy castles.
These castles were a passion for him, and still are. Some were tall and simplistic, others far more detailed, yet solid steel structures. A few of these older pieces can be found in his garden, hiding amongst the plants and bushes. Now the development of these fairy-tale pieces has led Phil into working with brick and water, making elaborate birdbaths too. These combine his love for creativity, and his care for wildlife.
Phil has shown at several different shows over the years, including Blenheim Palace, his most recent being Chelsea flower show 2008. After some time off last year with illness, you can find his work again at the show in 2010.
