About Me - Marie Shepherd
Sculpture has always been a lifetime ambition, but with a busy family and professional life I was only able to start in earnest in September 2004 at the Sunningwell School of Art with Alison Jones. It rapidly became a passion and I then attended several courses at West Dean College with Jon Edgar. I also followed life classes with Rosamund de Tracy Kelly and Jane Hamilton.
I joined the Bicester Sculptor Group Where I was able to experiment with different media, share inspiration with other artists and explore the various aspects of Sculpture from the sensitivity and movement of the human form to humour in animals or the pleasing shape of fruits.
I mostly work in the clay, plaster or white cs and my sculptures are then casted in bronze or bronze resin.
I have exhibited with the Medical Art Society at the Mall Galleries in London and as a member of the Surrey Sculpture Society I have exhibited at Vivartis, Borde Hill, Savill Gardens and RHS Wisley.
I play an active part in the Oxford Sculptors Group and exhibit regularly in Oxfordshire. I have shown my work at the Oxford Townhall, the Woodstock Museum, the North Wall Gallery, the Turrill Garden, Claydon House, Eynsham Hall and with the Bicester Sculpture Group for Artweeks.
