About me - John Penrose
John comes from an artistic family, including the famous surrealist Sir Roland Penrose, and is a member of a Surrey Sculpture Society, Oxford Sculptors Bicester Sculpture Group. He has exhibited widely with these and other groups and has sold his work extensively. Many editions have been sold out of Johns work can be found in private collections across the country. His depictions of animals, dancers and birds have proved very popular with a wide range of clients.
John discovered an aptitude for sculpture in 1995, following retirement from a business career, and attended training courses at Edinburgh College of Art and West Dean College.
His creativity has focused primarily on figurative subjects, with a particular interest in capturing the movements of dancers and the essence of birds. He enjoys those modelling and carving, working in a variety of materials including foundry bronze, stone and bronze resin.
