Naomi Bunker (pictured right) works from her farmhouse studio in Craig-Cefn-Parc, Swansea. She studied sculpture for four years in Carmarthen College of Art where she received a distinction.
Naomi’s work has been exhibited in numerous art galleries around Wales, and she has been commission to do private and public bronze sculptures.
Naomi explains, "I live with my partner Ian and two sons Sam and Emlyn. We live in area of natural beauty; this countryside inspires my artwork, which revolves around the wildlife and ancient feel of the mountains and woods locally. I try to inject a subtle hint of this spirit of nature and mythology into my work, so that it encaptures a slightly mystical or magical feeling, and it is this feeling and my love of nature that I want to express through my artwork."
Made to Order Artwork can be made to order of a subject or theme of your choice. These art works would be unique, one offs and would be priced individually according to size and time required to produce it. At all stages the client is referred to ensure the work is developing to suit their requirements.
For a sculpture the first stage would be to produce pencil drawings, to give a feel of what it could look like. This is the stage where ideas are formed and alterations on those ideas can be made. The second stage would be to make the sculpture in clay; here minor alterations can be made it necessary before the work is cast. The third stage the approved artwork is cast in bronze and the colour of the patina is chosen. The patina on the bronze is created by chemicals and heat, to give the bronze the desired effect e.g. blues, greens or reddish effects.
